About Grassby & Close Funeral Service

Since 2015 Grassby & Close Funeral Service have been providing their expertise to the local community from their offices at Innes Court in Sturminster Newton. The branch was opened by Grassby & Sons who are a long established family run business with their main office at Grassby Funeral Service in Dorchester.

Grassby & Close work in association with Colin J. Close Funeral Service in Blandford Forum where they have a chapel of rest.

An additional chapel of rest facility is also available, on request, at the Cemetery Chapel in Sturminster Newton.

The Sturminster Newton branch is looked after by Maxine Downton-Jones (Cert FD) who has qualified through the Independent Funeral College.

Maxine lives in Stalbridge but was brought up in Sturminster Newton and is an active member of the local community.

Grassby & Sons have two other branches in Dorset which are located in Weymouth and Wyke Regis. There are also two branches in East Devon in Sidmouth and Seaton.

All branches are supported by the masonry works at Grassby Memorials located just outside Dorchester in the village of Grimstone which has been operating since 1861.
